1. Introduction

TravelBean ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how TravelBean handles your information when you use our mobile application.

            Key Point: TravelBean stores all your trip and financial data locally on your device.
            We do not collect, transmit, or store this personal data on any remote servers. The only data that
            leaves your device is pseudonymous crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics) and the information Google
            AdMob needs to display a banner ad on the calculator screen — see Sections 2 and 5.
        

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you use TravelBean, you may provide the following information, all of which is stored locally on your device:

Trip Information: Trip names, descriptions, start and end dates, target countries
Financial Records: Expense amounts, account balances, transaction details, account names and categories
Receipt Photos: Photos you choose to attach to expense records (optional, stored locally)
Voice Memos: Audio recordings you choose to attach to expense records (optional, stored locally)
App Preferences: Language selection, theme preference (light/dark mode)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

Exchange Rate Data: Downloaded from a third-party API provider for currency conversion purposes
Crash Diagnostics: When the app crashes or hits a fatal error, Firebase Crashlytics collects a crash report (device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical stack trace) to help us diagnose and fix stability issues. These reports do not contain your trip names, financial records, or receipt photos.
Advertising Data: The calculator screen shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may access device and connection information such as your advertising identifier, IP address, and general device characteristics. We do not share your trip or financial data with AdMob.
No Usage Analytics: Apart from the crash diagnostics and advertising data described above, TravelBean does not track your in-app behavior or build usage-profile analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

Local Storage Only: All trip, financial, and photo data is stored exclusively in SQLite databases on your device
Currency Conversion: Exchange rate data is fetched from a third-party API and cached locally for offline use
No Data Transmission: Your personal trip and financial data is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties
No Account Required: TravelBean does not require user registration, login, or any personal identification

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Storage Location

All data is stored in app-specific directories on your device
Trip and financial data: SQLite databases stored in the app sandbox
Voice memos: App sandbox storage (inaccessible to other apps)
Receipt photos: App sandbox storage (inaccessible to other apps)
Exchange rate data: AES-encrypted local cache

4.2 Security Measures

Multi-database architecture with isolated trip data
AES encryption for sensitive exchange rate data
App sandbox protection (iOS and Android security models)
No network transmission of personal financial data

4.3 Data Retention

Data remains on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app
Uninstalling TravelBean automatically deletes all app data from your device
Device backups (iCloud, Google Drive) may include TravelBean data if you have enabled device-level backups

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Exchange Rate Data Provider

TravelBean fetches currency exchange rates from a third-party API provider. This service only receives requests for current exchange rates (TWD, USD, JPY) and does not have access to your personal financial data.

5.2 Google AdMob (Advertising)

TravelBean displays a banner advertisement on the calculator screen, served by Google AdMob (provided by Google LLC). AdMob may collect device and usage information — such as your advertising identifier, IP address, and device characteristics — to deliver and measure ads. We do not share your trip names, financial records, or receipt photos with AdMob. Where required, TravelBean uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request and manage advertising consent before requesting ads. You can revisit available advertising privacy options from the app's settings screen.

5.3 Firebase Crashlytics (Crash Reporting)

TravelBean uses Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google LLC) to collect crash and fatal-error reports. These reports include diagnostic information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and stack traces, and are used solely to improve app stability. 5.4 Services We Do Not Use

TravelBean does not integrate with:

Usage analytics services that profile your in-app behavior
Social media platforms
Cloud storage or account-sync services (unless you use device-level backups)

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access to Your Data

All your data is accessible directly within the TravelBean app at any time.

6.2 Data Deletion

Delete individual trips: Use the trip management screen
Delete individual expenses: Use the expense list screen
Delete all data: Uninstall the TravelBean app

6.3 Data Export

Currently, TravelBean does not offer a built-in data export feature. This functionality may be added in future updates.

7. Children's Privacy

TravelBean is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since all data is stored locally on the device, parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring their children's use of the app.

8. International Data Transfers

TravelBean stores all of your personal trip and financial data locally on your device, so this data is not transferred internationally. Exchange rate requests are made to API servers but do not include any personal or financial information. The crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics) and advertising data (Google AdMob) described in Sections 2 and 5 are processed by Google LLC and may be handled on servers located outside your country of residence.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

10. Data Breach Notification

Since TravelBean does not collect or store your data on remote servers, the risk of a data breach involving our systems is minimal. However, you should take appropriate security measures for your device, including:

Using device passcode/biometric authentication
Keeping your operating system updated
Being cautious about device physical security

11. Governing Law

This privacy policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
